THE ISLAND GARDEN

Once again Squire's Garden Centres will be exhibiting at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (stand FM3 5). This year we have combined tradition with elegance to make a beautiful Island Garden. 

Colin Squire said "Islands have fascinated people for thousands of years whether on the River Thames, in a lake or far out to sea. Hadrian used a large scale island in designing his famous Tivoli gardens in the first century and many Italian classical gardens developed the theme. Many an artificial lake in British landscape tradition would not be complete without an island often with a small temple or building. In this miniature garden we have created a small green space within a circular rill surrounded by luxuriant planting. The seating area is easily accessed across the lawn but for fun could also be approached via stepping stones."
