Prune late flowering clematis in the coming weeks to encourage strong growth and flowering.
These plants are vigorous growers so can be cut back to just above a pair of strong buds about 20cm from the ground.
If left unpruned, clematis can turn into a mass of tangled stems with a bare base.

2021 Gardening Trends
Gardening makes us feel happier, healthier and more in tune with nature. So it’s no surprise that the popularity of gardening continues to rise, with research by the Horticultural Trades Association showing that lockdown in 2020 created 3 million more gardeners!
As we enter a new year, we’ve put together our key gardening trends for the year ahead, to inspire you…
• Bright colours – Don’t be afraid of colour, go bold and vibrant!
• Grow your own – There’s no greater reward than growing your own fresh fruit and veg, and people are increasingly conscious of where their food is coming from.
• Peat free and eco-compost – Demand for sustainable compost is growing and choosing the right compost means stronger, healthier plants and bigger, better harvests.
• Best of British – Native British plants create elegant and contemporary gardens, and by buying British, you’re helping to support local growers too.
