A history of making people feel welcome
Since 1936 we’ve been building our family business, which now includes 15 garden centres. Our aim is to provide local communities with superb quality plants and gardening products as well as an attractive range of garden furniture, BBQs and gifts, to create a truly enjoyable garden centre experience. If you’d like to know more about how we’ve become part of the local communities in which we work and live, please look at our timeline and read some fantastic stories and see some wonderful pictures from days gone by.
A gardener’s paradise
We’re proud of the quality of our plants and the range of species we stock. And, as we’re a family company, our staff are our most important asset. Our team are friendly and very knowledgeable about plants. They are on hand to make sure you can find what you’re looking for and are very happy to help if you’ve got no idea what you’re looking for and just need some advice.
We have a wide variety of quality plants ranging from large feature plants to herbs, alpines and your favourite seasonal bedding plants. Our hardy plants all come with a three-year guarantee. Whatever you’re looking to do with your garden, we’ve got the plants and the expertise to help you achieve it.
You can spend time looking around and working out what you like and which plants sit well with others. It’s an enjoyable way to spend a morning or afternoon.
Add some comfort to your garden too
We have lots of other ways for you to while away some time. We want to help you make outdoor living as beautiful and practical as possible. Our garden furniture gives you options to fit into any style of garden, with finishes including weave, metal and wood. You can choose from a huge range of charcoal, gas and electric BBQs, to make sure you’ve got the right one to turn your garden into an alfresco kitchen. To extend the time you can spend enjoying your BBQ, our outdoor heating range will have just the thing. Lighting is often overlooked in garden spaces, but it can transform the space you have. We’ve got solar-powered lighting and battery-operated systems too.
Another thing that people enjoy doing is having a look at our garden décor. You’ll find everything from garden ornaments, to lanterns, to handy sticks that hold your drinks while you’re enjoying your garden.
What’s happening near you?
Our centres run a wide range of events, for our customers. From hanging baskets masterclasses to painting activities for the children, we’re always planning the next way we can help make a visit to our centres even more enjoyable.

Services all our centres offer
Our centres all have knowledgeable staff who enjoy talking to people, so they’ll be able to make sure you get the advice you need. Each centre offers a family feel, whilst presenting their own unique identities
We can help you with:
Plant advice – experienced horticultural staff can help you find exactly the plants your garden needs.
Free soil testing – to help you discover what plants will thrive best in your garden, bring a fist-sized amount of soil from your garden and we’ll test the pH level for you.
Assembly service – to save you time and effort, we offer our assembly service on BBQs and garden furniture. There’s a small charge for this service.
Home Delivery Service – we are happy to deliver any items purchased from Squire’s such as large plants, heavy compost, aggregates, garden furniture and BBQs. Our friendly team will agree a date and time of day that is convenient to all. Delivery is free on products totaling £100 or more, a small fee may be charged depending on location.
But each one is unique
Each centre has its own specialities. Four of our centres have pet and aquatics centres (those at Badshot Lea, Stanmore, Twickenham and Washington) and at Badshot Lea and Washington there’s a pottery painting studio, called Mambo Jambos. Out Milford centre is proud to have the only National Plant Collection of Kalmia latifolia cultivars in Britain. And each centre is unique in how it looks too. At our West Horsley centre, there is a comprehensive nursery, where a number of bedding plants for the Squire’s group are grown. Our Chertsey centre boasts a café bar in an octagonal-shaped lodge building that dates back to the times of the Napoleonic Wars.
