Plants Bring Joy to Children in New School Garden

The sun made a welcome appearance for the official opening of the new gardens at St Paul’s Primary School in Chessington on Wednesday 10th May.

Local hero, firefighter and proud recipient of a British Empire Medal from the Queen, Simon Jakeman, cut the ribbon, as head teacher Kathryn Hemming and her pupils looked on with pride.

Staff from Squire’s Garden Centres were there to join in the festivities, as every plant, climber and shrub were bought from Squire’s in Long Ditton by the school’s parents at a specially arranged discount. The school has given a certificate to each child whose family purchased a plant for the new garden.
