Purple Reigns When It Comes To Plant Colour This Spring

There are so many exciting new plants available this spring it’s hard to know what to pick. Plants with purple and blue flowers are very popular choices this season, as are those with an amazing scent.

So treat yourself to some new plants, fill your senses with the power of roses, and bring colour and fragrance to your garden. Squire’s Garden Centres have selected some of their favourite must-have new plants for your garden this spring.

Choisya ‘Scented Gem’ & ‘Goldstar’ – (£14.99)

‘Scented Gem’ is one of the best evergreen Mexican orange blossoms for spring fragrance. ‘Goldstar’ will illuminate the garden in any season with its striking golden yellow leaves and fragrant white flowers that bloom from March to May.

Clematis ‘Blue Musk’ – (£14.99)

A pretty climber with unusual almond-scented, lilac-blue flowers. Thrives in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

Dianthus ‘Purple Wedding’, ‘Early Love’ & ‘Peach Party’ – (from £2.99)

Choose dainty dianthus for an instant colour boost. ‘Purple Wedding’ would make a great wedding gift!

Erysimum ‘Super Bowl Mauve’ – (£9.99)

Fill your beds with a sea of beautiful purple blooms that will last all spring with this new wallflower.

Heuchera ‘Wild Rose’ – (£9.99)

Perfect for a pot Heuchera ‘Wild Rose’ has lush berry leaves.

Hebe ‘Mint Chocolate’ – (£10.99)

Great for beginners (and chocolate lovers!) this evergreen shrub is easy to grow and will flower from June to July.

Lady of Shalott – (£24.99)

Compact and ideal for a pot, the elegant salmon pink and orange flowers are repeat flowering and appear from summer to autumn. Hardy and reliable with vigorous bushy growth. Height & spread 1.35m x 1.2m.

Podophyllum ‘Spotty Dotty’ – (£9.99)

Striking large umbrella-shaped leaves that are heavily spotted with bronze, particularly in spring. Dark red, hanging, narrow bell-shaped flowers appear below the leaves in late spring or early summer.

Precious Series – (from £9.99)

The ‘Timeless’ series of scented repeat-flowering roses have been bred for cutting, and come in cream, pink, and purple. Height & spread 100cm x 100cm.

Trachelospermum ‘Pink Showers’ – (£19.99)

Known as star jasmine, this variety has pink flowers and is highly scented. Its evergreen foliage makes it an excellent climber in a sunny or sheltered spot.
