Squire’s Hersham marks 40 Year Anniversary with Garden Party Celebrations

Three generations of the Squire family and their colleagues at Squire’s Garden Centres Hersham enjoyed celebrating 40 years of the centre this week with a special tea party for customers, guests and dignitaries, as well as representatives from the centre’s new Charity of the Year, Home-Start Elmbridge.
Guests were warmly welcomed and treated to a special afternoon tea expertly prepared and presented by the Squire’s Hersham team and hosted by Colin Squire OBE, his daughter, Sarah Squire (Squire’s Chairman), as well as granddaughter and fourth generation of the family, Felicia Baily (Sustainability Co-ordinator). Invitees included the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Neil Houston and Mayoress, Veronica English, Carol Hodges, Scheme Director, and Kathy Clark, Chair of Trustees, Home-Start Elmbridge as well as TV presenter and Patron of Home-Start Elmbridge, Ruth Langsford, Rachel Hill, CEO, and Paul Stewart, Head of Marketing, Whiteley Village, the housing charity supporting older people and close neighbours of the Squire’s Hersham.
The event also served to celebrate the relationship between the garden centre and the community it serves with many regular customers attending. Home-Start’s Carol Hodges delivered a speech about the forthcoming and value partnership with the Squire’s Hersham. Ruth Langsford also told guests about the connection she had fused between the centre and the local charity she is Patron of and passionate about. Attendees enjoyed music from talented, local harpist, Rebeca Jones, and guests generously supported the charity raffle, which raised £209.76 for Home-Start.

Hersham’s anniversary event truly illustrated the role Squire’s Hersham plays in the local community, and how much we value the connection with our customers and the locality. We are very much looking forward to supporting our charity of the year, Home-Start Elmbridge, over the next 12 months.”
