Squire’s Garden Centres has launched a new initiative to bring a burst of colour and joy to communities next spring, with the giveaway of 20,000 British-grown daffodil bulbs.

The 20,000 Bulb Community Giveaway is open to groups located within five miles of one of Squire’s 17 garden centres. From schools and hospices to community gardens, allotments and local charities, the scheme invites applications from those who would benefit from a cheerful display of spring flowers in their shared spaces.

Each successful applicant will receive a minimum of 320 bulbs, with final numbers based on planting area. Recipients will be selected to ensure a fair spread across all 17 centres. Applications close on 15 September 2025, with bulbs delivered from late September through to mid-October in time for planting.

Launching the initiative this week, Sarah Squire, Chairman, Squire’s Garden Centres comments: “This initiative is a simple way of spreading a little happiness and joy. Daffodils are such cheerful flowers and we hope that when they flower next spring these bulbs will help brighten up shared spaces across local towns and villages. We are fortunate to be located in the midst of some wonderful communities and we are proud to support the areas where we are situated and the local people we serve.”

Applications are invited from representatives involved with a group (rather than a third party) and recipients should be willing to participate in local publicity. The scheme is not open to private or commercial organisations.
