Squire’s Looks Forward To Opening At Hare Hatch

Squire’s Garden Centres is delighted to announce the acquisition of Dobbies Hare Hatch Garden Centre* (Floral Mile, Twyford), safeguarding jobs and securing the future of the site.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We are excited to be opening at Hare Hatch in the second half of February. We are looking forward to getting to know the garden centre team and working with them, as well as building relationships with the local community.  

“Our number one priority is getting the centre up and running and we look forward to bringing our new customers our wonderful selection of plants – many of which are homegrown and from our own nurseries – as we head into the exciting spring season. We are working on this as quickly as we can and hope to announce an opening date very soon.

Sarah continues: “It will be business as usual at the site for the garden centre and Café Bar when we open, with the centre’s soft play – which is currently closed – re-opening as soon as practically possible.”

Established in 1936, Squire’s is a family business, with three generations now enjoying working together – Colin Squire OBE., (Chairman Emeritus), his daughter, Sarah Squire (Chairman) and granddaughter, Felicia Baily.Now with 17 garden centres, Hare Hatch will be Squire’s second site in Berkshire, alongside Squire’s Wokingham. The company is looking forward to marking its 90th anniversary year in 2026. Squire’s Garden Centres continues to provide the local communities in which is operates with superb quality plants and gardening products as well an attractive range of garden furniture, BBQs and gifts – and above all, a truly enjoyable garden centre experience.

Homegrown Plants

In January 2023, Squire’s acquired Barnsfold Nurseries, based in West Sussex and a long-standing supplier of bedding plants to the business, marking a return to offering more home-grown plants. In 2024, Barnsfold Nurseries acquired Hampshire-based hardy plant nursery, Liss Forest, to form Barnsfold Liss. The combined business now offers a high-quality range of hardy plants and bedding plants to the garden centre sector and the wider industry and Squire’s is looking forward to bringing its fantastic quality plants to Berkshire residents.
