The Squire family and their colleagues at Squire’s Wokingham enjoyed celebrating the fifth anniversary of the site’s acquisition by the local family business this week. A special summer tea party was hosted for guests and dignitaries as well as representatives from the centre’s local Charity of Year, Wokingham-based CLASP (Caring, Listening and Supporting Partnership).

Guests were warmly welcomed and treated to a special afternoon tea expertly prepared and presented by the Squire’s Wokingham team and hosted by Colin Squire OBE, his daughter, Sarah (Squire’s Chairman), as well as granddaughter and fourth generation of the family, Felicia Baily (Sustainability Co-ordinator). Invitees included the Mayor of Wokingham Borough, Cllr Adrian Mather, Ian Floor, Managing Director of locally based soft fruit growers, Hall Hunter, which supply seasonal soft fruit to Squire’s Food Halls (based at Squire’s Wokingham and Frensham) as well as Lucy Neal-Hooke, General Manager at Hall Hunter’s premium fruit brand, ‘Berrymakers’.

The event also served to celebrate the relationship between the garden centre and the community it serves with many regular customers attending. Representing the charity, Debs Morrison, Chief Executive at CLASP, delivered a speech about the successful and valued partnership with the Squire’s team at Wokingham. Attendees enjoyed music from talented, local harpist Cecily Beer, and a charity raffle, which raised £200 for CLASP.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to those who attended the event to mark our anniversary. The afternoon was a wonderful celebration, with many of our local and loyal customers attending and enjoying the ambience along with beautiful music and food. The afternoon truly illustrated the role Squire’s Wokingham plays in the local community, and how much we value the special connection with our customers and the charity we support.”
