Squire’s Garden Centres donated a Christmas tree to Teddington Lights Up

L-R: Colin Squire OBE (Chairman) and Sarah Squire (Deputy Chairman)

Teddington Lights Up took place on Thursday 29th November in Teddington High Street and Broad Street, but earlier in the month the switch-on ceremony had been cancelled due to lack of funding.

However thanks to local residents, businesses and the council all pulling together, this popular annual event went ahead. This was thanks to £2,500 raised by the Kings Head, and a very successful crowd-funding appeal, where the people of Teddington managed to raise over £3,700, smashing their original target of £2,500. Richmond Council also waived its fees for the road closures and made a financial donation, and Christmas trees were kindly donated by the Lensbury Club and Squire’s Garden Centre in Twickenham.

Sarah Squire, Squire’s Deputy Chairman commented, “We were delighted to be able to donate a Christmas tree to ensure that ‘Teddington Lights Up’ went ahead this year. It’s great that the local community all came together to make this popular event happen. It really shows the power of community spirit this Christmas time.”
