Crocus Vanguard is one of the first and the largest flowering variety (Feb- March) to come into bloom each year. Featuring delicate grey-violet flowers, these crocuses provide an important early source of nectar for beneficial insects returning after winter. As the flowers are small, it’s best to plant them in groups. Over the years, the bulbs will multiply, creating larger displays and offering even more food for bees and butterflies.Plant bulbs from September to December, 15-20cm deep and 10cm apart in fertile, well-drained soil. If planting in containers you can plant more closely simply by spacing the bulbs 1-2cm apart in a single layer, or 2-3cm apart if layering them for a showier impact.
