Calathea Mix 17cm

Calathea or ‘prayer plant’ as its also known as is native to the jungles of South America and can be found usually under the canopy in a light humid environment. Often chosen because of their stunning colour variations which usually consist of intricate patterns on the top side of the leaf with a burgundy red under carriage these amazing plants will also turn their leaves up to the roof when its time to go to bed, this is to protect them from predators in the wild that they might encounter with. When it comes to the care of this plant it is always best to mimic the natural environment in which they are located so a very humid warm area that doesn’t have a temperature drop below 15*c. When it comes to watering Calatheas can be fussy, as our tap water can be either soft or hard water and is mixed with fluoride this can cause burning of the leaves, so we always recommend watering using rainwater collected from your water butts as this is ph. Neutral and doesn’t contain anything. Reaching a potential height of 1 metre with the leaves having a width of 30cm. Ceramic pot not included.
