Often referred to as 'Portugese Laurel', this evergreen shrub can grow to an impressive 12 metres high and 9 metres wide, over a time af around 20-50 years, when left unpruned. Dark red shoots produce green, slender, oval shaped leaves. In early summer spikes of white flowers will appear which are followed in autumn by deep purple berries.
