This Acer has a fantastic show of rich purple leaves from spring, deepening in summer which then turn into a brilliant crimson red through in the autumn, to then loose it’s leaves in the winter, then grow back purple to start the year again. In the latter part of the year, the leaf system falls revealing a vibrant stem ideal for highlighting in your garden. This Acer will grow in both acidic and neutral soils and prefers a free draining but moist soil. Bloodgood will grow in full sun or a partially shaded area providing its sheltered.
