Plant The Perfect Border
“For beginners I would recommend planting French marigolds – they are easy to grow, tolerant of the weather and give a great splash of colour.”
Kevin – Gardener at Squire’s Badshot Lea

Research the plants you like. Include plants for every season and evergreens.

Mark out the border, dig over the soil, and fork in composted stable manure such as Country Natural Organic Stable Manure.

Set out your plants on the bed. Put large plants at the back, leaving space to grow.

Dig a hole for each plant, twice as wide as the pot and a little deeper.

Gently take plants from their pots, Place in the hole and back-fill.

Firm the plants, water each plant.

Add a 5cm (2in) layer of bark (“milch”) to help suppress the weeds and retail soil moisture.
