Customers are warmly invited to join Colin Squire OBE., Chairman Emeritus, and his daughter, Sarah Squire, Chairman, for a special Anniversary Tea Party this summer, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Squire’s Long Ditton.

Customers will be treated to a very special afternoon including a glass of fizz on arrival and an afternoon tea menu especially put together for the occasion, to comprise classic finger sandwiches with seasonal ingredients, including egg mayonnaise and cucumber as well as maple glazed gammon ham, tomato and red onion bruschetta, plain or fruit scone with clotted cream and jam and lemon and elderflower cake, to name just a few.

There will be music provided by local harpist, Rebeca Jones.  Tickets cost £20 per person and can be booked online or in-store; gluten free menu options are available.

Supporting the local community and charities has been at the heart of the Squire’s family philosophy for more than 85 years.  Continuing this support, there will be a raffle at the Long Ditton Anniversary Tea Party, supporting the centres’ current ‘Charity of the Year’, Princess Alice Hospice.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “My father and I are very much looking forward celebrating this very special milestone for our Long Ditton centre.  We aim to be at the heart of the communities we serve and our family and our garden centre colleagues are delighted to share our celebrations with our customers.  The Anniversary Tea Party will be a wonderful way to mark the occasion with the people who matter most to us.”

Squire’s Long Ditton

Located in Long Ditton, near Surbiton just off the A3, Squire’s Long Ditton was rebuilt in 2003 on the Woodstock Nursery site.  An important memory for the family is that D.J. Squire, who founded the company in 1936, was able to visit the centre when it opened in the spring of 2003 just a week before he died at the age of 97. The formal opening was carried out by Kim Wilde. The centre hosts a wide range of high quality indoor and outdoor plant, shrubs, trees, cottage garden plants, climbers and patio favourites.  In addition, Squire’s Long Ditton has a welcoming and stylish Cafe Bar, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as gift shop.  The garden centre is complemented by a wonderful walking route to the rear of the centre with long views of the surrounding area and, in the spring, a host of Wildflowers.
