Pupils Enlisted as Coronation Cake Tasters

Squire’s Garden Centres has enlisted the help of some young expert cake tasters to help it choose which bake to serve customers in its Café Bars as its special ‘limited edition’ Coronation cake.

The young tasters from Badshot Lea Infants School, near Farnham, paid their local garden centre a visit recently to give their views on a range of cakes.  Unsurprisingly, the range of cakes received big thumbs up, so much so that in response Squire’s has decided to offer customers a choice of not one but two cakes for the royal occasion – Coronation Chocolate Cake, a rich, indulgent sweet treat, and Strawberry Crown, a buttery and light Coronation sponge – to celebrate the royal occasion!

Gemma Ball, Badshot Lea Infant School Headteacher, comments: “It was a brilliant opportunity for the children to visit Squire’s as they are getting very excited about the upcoming Coronation and so it was great to be part of choosing cakes for the momentous royal occasion.  The pupils certainly enjoyed being invited to be taste testers!”

Squire’s Badshot Lea Restaurant Manager, Cheryl Deepchand, comments: “What a brilliant bunch of little tasters.  The pupils from Badshot Lea Infants were a great help with their views on the selection of cakes put to the test; they have high standards and are very discerning!

“The cakes sampled were so tasty and received such great feedback, we have decided to offer two Coronation cakes to our customers, which will be available in all our 16 Café Bars.”

Squire’s two ‘Limited Edition’ Coronation Cakes will be available in all café bars from this week and priced at £3.95 a slice – a perfectly regal sweet treat with tea or coffee to mark the occasion of the Coronation.
