Afternoon Tea Week

Afternoon Tea Week runs from 9-15 August 2021, and it is a celebration across the UK of the great British tradition of taking afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea was introduced in Britain in 1840 by Anne, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, who would often become hungry around four o’clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was held fashionably late at eight o’clock, so she would ask for a tray of tea, bread, butter and cake to be bought to her in the afternoon.

Anniversary Cream Tea and Afternoon Tea at Squire’s

But there’s no need to restrict yourself to just one week to celebrate the great British afternoon tea! For the whole of August, you can enjoy a very special Anniversary Cream Tea* at Squire’s Garden Centres. This exclusive treat is to celebrate Squire’s 85th Anniversary this summer. Enjoy a delicious scone with jam and clotted cream, a slice of Eton Mess gateaux and a pot of loose-leaf tea for £7.95. Served all day every day until Tuesday 31st August.

Or if you want the full Afternoon Tea^ experience, you can enjoy a choice of sandwiches, cakes, a selection of canapes, a scone with clotted cream and jam and a pot of loose-leaf tea for £17.95 per person. Served all year Monday to Saturday 2.30-4.30pm at selected Squire’s centres.

All Squire’s Café Bars have indoor seating and most have outdoor seating too, many with new pergolas to protect you from the changeable British weather! Plus, you can get garden inspiration while you dine, as tables indoors and outdoors often overlook the beautiful plant area which is particularly stunning at this time of year. It’s a great place to catch up with friends and family, and with free parking there’s plenty of time to pick up some plants for the garden whilst you are there.
