Squire’s Colleagues Celebrated For Making A Difference

Squire’s Garden Centres has celebrated colleagues who went the extra mile in 2022 through its ‘Made a Difference’ (M.A.D.) scheme, at a recent awards lunch.

Each month Squire’s Garden Centres recognises team members for making a difference with nominations coming from peers or by customers. One individual, or a group of team members, is selected by a Squire’s panel for making a difference to the business.  This could be coming up with a great idea, offering outstanding customer service, going over and above normal duties or thinking of an initiative that has grown or inspired the business.

Examples of how Squire’s colleagues have made a difference over the last year include demonstrating particular kindness, helping customers who have fallen ill, providing outstanding customer service and demonstrating exemplary focus on the customer:

  • A colleague creating an amazing, memorable visit for a group of primary school children who had grown their own potatoes.  Dressing up as a bag of chips to greet the pupils and award them their prizes, the colleague not only created a wonderful atmosphere but made some great memories of the children’s visit to Squire’s too. (Tracey Greenway – Marketing colleague, Squire’s Group Office)
  • A dedicated member of Squire’s Plant Team who went the extra mile preparing the ground and planting a tree for a WI group in West Sussex on a busy roadside in exceptionally wet and wintry weather conditions (Shaun Howell – Plant Manager, Squire’s Crawley)
  • Team)

The 2022 winners of the businesses ‘Made A Difference’ scheme each received a gift and were thanked at a special lunch served by the Squire’s Management Team, this year hosted at Squire’s Milford.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comment: “I would like to congratulate all our 2022 M.A.D. winners – as well as other colleagues nominated throughout the year.  They have all  gone the extra mile and demonstrated such care and consideration for our customers.  We always try to give outstanding customer service and I would like to thank my colleagues for their enthusiasm, hard work and dedication.”
