Squire’s Generosity Raises £4,000 for Phyllis Tuckwell

Squire’s Garden Centres has raised an impressive £4,000 from support its recent charity football match, held to support local Farnham hospice, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

Located close to Squire’s Group Office in Farnham, the charity has a special place in the heart of the local community, as well as many Squire’s colleagues who live locally. A family-owned business, charitable activity is an important focus of Squire’s community commitment, with each centre having a local ‘Charity of the Year’ to support.  While this was a business-wide initiative, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care is also Squire’s Badshot Lea’s Charity of the Year for 2022-23.  The charity five-a-side was an initiative to bring colleagues together from across its 16 centres located across Surrey, Sussex, Berkshire, North and West London, with players travelling to Farnham for the evening match held at David Lloyd Farnham Health Club.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “Thank you to colleagues across our centres for their initiative to make this important fundraising event happen and to everyone, including our suppliers, for their generous donations.  A terrific final amount was raised for a vital local charity.  It was heartening to see colleagues take the time to travel and come together, creating a really memorable event.  Players enjoyed a little healthy competition and supporters were treated to an entertaining, if chilly, evening!”

Tom Enser, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, comments: “This was a fantastic event arranged by the Squire’s team and saw incredible kindness of people giving their time as well as generosity from all those who donated to the event, including Squire’s colleagues and suppliers.  Congratulations to all who made the event happen as well as the outstanding amount raised.”

Special thanks are extended to David Lloyd Farnham for the use of the pitch, Squire’s colleagues and suppliers who made generous donations, as well as Wayne Fordham, West Sussex affiliated referee, who kindly gave his time to oversee the game.
