Squire’s Shepperton to Host Stunning Summer ‘Flower Show’
Squire’s Garden Centre in Shepperton will be hosting a free Flower Festival this summer, incorporating three individual national shows.
Visitors will be able to enjoy stunning displays by award-winning, expert growers from across the country who will come together to exhibit their very best blooms at Squire’s Shepperton, to include the National Rose Show in June, the National Sweet Pea Show in July and the National Fuchsia Show in August. Visitors will receive a very warm welcome and each event is free.
The National Rose Show (24 & 25 June)
The National Rose Show returns once again for the 46th year at Squire’s Shepperton, having commenced in 1977, Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee year. The show is hosted on behalf of The Rose Society UK, of which Colin Squire OBE., (Chairman Emeritus of Squire’s Garden Centres) is President.
The Rose Society UK promotes and stimulates interest in growing roses as well as to educate and improving people’s knowledge of roses. Colin Squire is also the recipient of the highest award in the world of roses, the prestigious Dean Hole Medal, awarded by The Rose Society UK in 2021 in recognition of Colin’s work with and love of roses.
Taking place in a large marquee in the Shepperton plant area, there will be stunning displays of roses from an impressive list of growers. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of 15% off roses all weekend* (at Squire’s Shepperton only). In addition, there will be floral art displays to enjoy from Walton & Weybridge Flower Club. Live musical entertainment will be provided on Saturday 24th June from 12 noon until 3pm by the renowned ‘Panama Café Orchestra’ jazz band and on Sunday 25th June saxophone quartet, ‘Saxcelerate’, will perform.
National Sweet Pea Show (1 & 2 July)
Squire’s is honoured to be hosting, for the very first time this July, the National Sweet Pea Show, taking on the baton for this much-loved event from RHS Wisley, who hosted the event in 2022.
Held in partnership with the National Sweet Pea Society, which was established in 1900, the event will take place in a large marquee in the Shepperton plant area and provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy exceptional show standard displays of this favoured flower. Specialty Sweet Pea seeds will be available to purchase, sold by Roger Parsons Sweet Peas.
National Fuchsia Show (13 August)
This year sees the return of the National Fuchsia Show, hosted by Squire’s on behalf of the British Fuchsia Society, which celebrates its 85th anniversary this year. Taking place in The Orangery at Shepperton, expert growers will be attending with the very best examples of one of the nation’s favourite flowers, with exhibits including standard and bonsai fuchsias.
Colin Squire OBE., Chairman Emeritus, Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We are extremely honoured to be able to host the Squire’s Flower Festival this year, bringing to Shepperton three truly wonderful national shows of great significance.
