Squire’s Woking Quiz Night Raises £2,300 for LinkAble Charity

Squire’s Woking hosted a winning quiz night last week to raise money for the centre’s ‘Charity of the Year’, LinkAble*, raising an impressive £2,300.

Our enthusiastic team from Woking devised a ‘Curry & Quiz Night’ event to support LinkAble, a local charity which supports adults and children with learning disabilities.  Each of our 16 Garden Centres choose a charity to support each year and, as the year of fundraising draws to a close, the Woking team wanted to do something significant for their chosen charity that the whole team could support – as well as an opportunity for customers and local charity supporters to get behind.

Ed Ridgeon, Squire’s Woking Centre Manager, comments: “We were so pleased with how the evening went and the tremendous support we received from the community for what was a sell-out event.  It was wonderful to see the team’s enthusiasm in the run up to the evening and for our chosen charity as well as on the night itself.  Not only did we raise a significant amount for LinkAble, but we also had a really entertaining summer’s evening which was enjoyed by over 100 people including our own colleagues, teams from other Squire’s Garden Centres, customers – and even family and friends came along to show their support and enjoy the event for a brilliant cause!

Rhys Parker, Fundraising Manager at LinkAble, comments: “We would like to thank the Woking team for such a brilliant and entertaining evening and for all the tremendous effort which went into creating such a special event for LinkAble.  The team really went the extra mile to create a memorable occasion.”

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We were delighted with the response to our Woking event and to be able to support such an important local charity as LinkAble – both on the evening and over the past year – as a Charity of the Year. “We believe our garden centres should be at the absolute heart of the local communities we serve. The Woking team’s brilliant effort was a wonderful demonstration of how we can support a local charity that is at the centre of the community.  Congratulations to everyone for creating such a memorable and fun evening for so many to enjoy.”
