The third Monday in January is known as Blue Monday. It is thought to be one of the most depressing days of the year due to a combination of post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights and the arrival of credit card bills.
This year Blue Monday falls on the 17 January. However, there is an easy way that you can cheer yourself up. Squire’s Garden Centres is suggesting that people turn Blue Monday into Plant Hug Day!
Hug A Houseplant
We all need a hug from time to time, so why not hug a houseplant? Hugging is thought to have many benefits for our health, it can reduce stress levels, lower blood pressure and trigger the release of healthy hormones. And as Friday 21 January is officially ‘National Hugging Day’ then it’s a good week to get close to nature and give your houseplants a cuddle.
A happy houseplant means a happy you. Hug an old favourite and give it the care and attention it needs, or buy a new houseplant to green up your home or to give as a gift to friends and family.
